V8 Swap Empty
PostSubject: V8 Swap   V8 Swap EmptySat Oct 30, 2010 4:59 pm

So, Im not the greatest mechanic I want to swap out my four banger for a v8. Im just in thought about it I just want some feedback on what Im getting myself into, I have the tools and place to do it and what motors I should be looking at here and transmissions. I want something thats gonna be... not so inexpensive but not a wallet breaker. And what transmission should I look at so I don't have worry so much about the transfer case. Now don't make to much fun of me like I said Im not the greatest mechanic but Im not completely moron when it comes to jeeps. SOMEBODY HELP ME!! ha.

Hope everyone is doing great!

V8 Swap Empty

I guess this is going into a wrangler?

also the axles will not hold up to a V8 so you will have to swap them out also.

What year jeep is this?

is this a street jeep if so you have to worry about the emission testing.

a good truck donor is a help then you have everything you need.

Fuel injected is nice but more stuff to do with the computer.

This should give you somthing to think about before you get started.

this is going to be a street a street jeep and I feel dumb for not putting in what I was doing this with. haha

I was worried about the axels I was hoping I wouldn't have to.

It's a 99 TJ with the 2.5 in it. I enjoy trail riding, nothing to intense for the fact of Im poor and this is my daily driver.

Is there a motor that you could suggest for this? I would like it to be fuel injected... Im not to in to having to deal with a carburetor again, I have a bad history with them. Mad

thanks

the 5.3 chevy is a good engine and there are plenty of them. Get everything trans and transfercase and computer. 5.3 thread

another good read

you could look at a 318 from dodge also.

not sure what you want but it might be cheaper to sell your jeep and buy one with a 6 cly.
