For the second time in about a year, year and a half the bar pin for my rear shock has gone kablooey. And I havent taken it off road. I just ordered a bar pin replacement set up - but why?

sound like your shock are bottoming out. Do you have extended bump stop on the rear?

Looking at this I would guess nope - though I cant see why it would happen with normal driving.

use your jack and lift the tire as high as you can then check the shock to see if it fully compress. if it is you need the bump stops bump stop

also look at your shock rod if it is clean to the top then you are compressing them all the way.

here is a good post alot of reading but it may help make sure you read post #28

Sorry Gill I did not answer your question over time the spring will sage some and the shocks wear out so you are getting more bounce in the rear but you would not notice this because you drive it every day.

the bar pin kit you got will work but you know how the weak link works make them stronger and brake somthing else. if you need any help let me know or Jimmy he has nothing to do.

Well I looked at the shock and it had about 1/4 inch dirty at the end so it wasnt bottoming out but it was rubbing the exhaust. Shaggy and Jim came through like champs. Shaggy called me said he heard I was having an issue plus wanted to chat. So I went over and he climbed under. They both went out of their way. A screw had been rigged in - looks like at some point the bolt was broke and someone jammed another one in. the bolt was causing the issue being wrong size and rigged in. The country boy in Jim came out - we didnt have the right tool - so he made one. Tim got it to work. I really appreciate what they did.

Thanks for the kind words, I had fun. Sorry we could only fix the one side. The other side should be easy. We can look at it soon.
