Some of you might remember Eric Miller. He was a Rock Raider and is from Garrett county. He placed 5 in the KOH out of 100 contestants this year... Congrats Eric..
Jason Sherer who was last years winner placed 19th and the famous Shannon Campbell winner prior year placed 20th...
Doug Bigelow who some might also know from the Creepers placed 35, Lou Levy 85th and AJ Condon 98th.. They both had major problems with their rigs..
Congrats to those East Coasters who continue to make a strong showing....
Maybe next year I will actually make it there even though last year I swore I would be there this year..... Dam H1N1!!!!!!
Some pics to follow...

From the local guys...... This is from Stu who is Aj's co driver....
Hey guys. Thanks again for the support. We did not finish the big race and I have yet to look up what place we actually came in.
We were really hauling through the first mile of LCQ. We had a line with a long strap attached coiled in the truck ready for me to hop out at backdoor and hook up to the masterpull cherokee. The hookup went well and we winched/crawled up the first waterfall but wound up diffed on a rock because of the truck sliding a bit. We backed up against the winch line with the plan of pulling the front over a bit. We loaded the rope up a little hard. You should have seen the guys face in the winch cherokee. We were just about pulling it over the stop rocks. The line gave out. The viking guy said it looked cut on a rock. I saw the truck roll back down the waterfall and do a wheelstand that was almost verticle. I called over the radio for aj to back up and he banged trough the gears and backed up hard. The crowd went nuts. I ran down and pulled the line back up and tied it off at the strap. We puled up without issue after that. Past the second waterfall we hung up a little but we were on our way with plenty of time left to meet our 22 - 23 minute goal. When we went back to high range the tranny wasn't holding in first. We ran the remainer in low range. That slowed us down a bit. 25.14 is what I think our official time was.
We were in at 19th set to start 26th with just a linkage adjustment to make.
I pulled the skid and instead found that we had a broken th400 to d300 novak adapter. I pulled a bunch apart and drew up a plate to tie our crossmember support into the front output housing. Torchmate burned out a couple of 1/8" plates and we put it back together for tech. We passed tech with flying colors and after a ong drivers meeting aj headed out for a test run.
It now wouldn't shift from first at all. We had seen this before when the governor drive gear went. Matt found a guy an hour away with just what we needed. We just had to go get it and it was an hour away. Aj left out to go get the parts while I worked on buttoning everything up. The tranny guy set us up with a new drive gear module and a spare alng with a pan gasket and new filter. We threw it together and sent aj out at 2am for a test run.
He came back with the truck smoking and himself and the truck covered in power steering fluid. The custom resi had blown up at a weld. We pulled it and we were going from camp to camp waiting for someone that could tig it for us. A guy frome nicole johnsons crew welded us up using the PSC welder and we were on the line for staging a little late at like 7am. So much for sleep before the big race.
We decided that we were going to just follow the guy that started next to us and we stayed right behind him heading into mile 4 he hit something hard and we just didn't get slow enough. He pulled over pretty fast. We made it a mile and started smoking. It was coolant. We dropped a trash bag and started wrenching. We puled out the fan and rad and aj pinched off some tubes in the rad and we poured in our spare water and the coolant from the bag and we were on our way.
At the first pit we checked everything over and found a bunch of little things. We went over the car really well and put two eggs in the rad and were on our way.
After banging on the rocks a bit we lost the ability to hold it in first again. We just ran with it until we hit the main pit. When we dropped the pan, I found that the novak adaptor was all torn up and the linkage bracket was broken. We got it pulled and Tim welded the broken braket up. I made sure we had first and all vital fluids and we rolled out. Three hours of wrenching goes fast.
We got out to mile 40.5 and heard a screeching noise. The tc had had enough of our shit and seized up. Grinding us to a four wheel skid at mile 41.5.
We pulled the shafts and hung out for a couple of hours. I walked about a mile to a big hill and managed to get a text out. About two hours after dark an ftoy stopped by. An hour later he came back and towed us out. __________________
