Let me begin saying that My drive to Texas from Ocean City has been one hell of an adventure !
I'm almost done my drive to Texas I have 14hrs done, and 10 to go. At the rate I'm going It'll be 2-3 days before I make it.
After this trip Liisa and I will have a tow rig by Jan. when we come back to Md. ( She is looking on Carmax's Site now as I type this ) Mechanically the YJ is great (should I be saying this ?)
My problems began Sunday by natural bridge Va. when the ball flange on the down pipe broke .I decided to put up with the noise and boogie along about 5 miles down the road I went to down shift and the clutch pedal went to the floor. The heat melted my slave cyl. line . So the wife called AAA and had us towed to a hotel by an auto shop but they were closed for the next 2 days and the people seemed pretty sketchy and I didn't feel too comfortable leaving my belongings and Jeep with them. I called some family friends about 3-4hrs away in Knoxville Tenn which I have to pass on my way to Texas They said come on down we will get ya fixed up. So we drove there Shifting without a clutch is so much fun in the hills of Va and Tenn. BTW I had the Exhaust fixed on Monday morning. I tried to locate a slave cyl. assembly but no such luck everything was closed for the holiday. This morning I called Dave at Adams to see if he could locate the parts I needed He did find what I needed in Bristol Tenn. 90 mins away so I drove to Bristol and installed the new clutch master cyl/ slave cylinder assembly on their lot. I Headed back down on the road and 40 miles outside of Nashville I started getting bad vibrations . I thought maybe it was a U-joint was going bad so at the next stop about a mile or two down the road I needed to get gas so I checked that was fine. Then I looked at my wheels and found my problem. my LR wheel worked loose all 5 lugs that my friend said he tightened came off by hand (the 3 wheels I tightened were still tight) So Tomorrow morning I have a local shop here in Nashville installing 5 new studs on my LR I dont trust my old studs enough for the rest of the drive but a few miles to the hotel was far enough for me to limp it . I have my spare on and its tight since the lug holes on my rim are destroyed I'll get a new rim once in Tx .
